The
Aquarium is the last stop in the Life area of the
Museum. It is here that you come face to face with
the native fish you would find in this area. 35,000
gallons of re-circulated fresh water provide a home
for these different species of native fish. The Aquarium
itself is located outside of the building with a cascade
of falls that helps give the fish oxygen to breathe.
Inside the building are three large windows that reveal
the underwater world the fish inhabit. Here you may
spot a bass, crappie, drum, catfish or even one of
the turtles that find their way into the water looking
for food. This is the way to go underwater and never
even get wet! The fish are provided to the Museum
by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission who work
to balance the fish populations in our local lakes
through conservation and education.
