Dinosaurs! Summer Science Camps Exciting and educational hands-on science for kids and adults.
These stand-alone camps feature a different theme each week and a different topic every day, so you can join us for one day, one week, all five weeks, or any combination. These camps all have a dinosaur theme to complement our special dinosaur exhibits this summer. Some scholarships are available; call for info: 501.767.3461 x15.
Each camp is $25 + tax ($27.13) per day for MASM members or $30 + tax ($32.55) per day for non-members.
• Camp hours from 9am to 12noon
• Two age-appropriate camp tracks: ages 6-8 and 9-11 (Robots has only one track: ages 8-11)
• Small group instruction
• A staff of experienced educators

June 14-17 Robots, Robots, Everywhere Robots
Learn to build programmable robots that perform specific tasks. Can you make them maneuver through a jungle?
Monday. Make an animal with a sound box and light sensor
Tuesday. Create a jungle that comes alive
Wednesday. Learn about sounds created by different foods
Thursday. Work with a partner to build motion machines
June 21-24 Designing Dinos
Create your own dinosaur. What did it eat? How did it walk? You decide as you let your imagination soar.
Monday. Design your dinosaur
Tuesday. Construct your dinosaur using balloons or paper
Wednesday. Construct your dinosaur with mixed media
Thursday. Build your dinosaur's habitat. Does it swim, climb, or fly?
June 28-July 1 Dino-mation
Learn about electrical circuits as you build your dinosaur and create controlled moveable parts.
Monday. Add circuits and batteries to make your dinosaur move
Tuesday. Add cranks and cams to bring your dinosaur to life
Wednesday. Make your dinosaur glide aerodynamically
Thursday. Safely transport the dinosaur egg without breaking
July 5-8 Paleo Place
Get outside to dig in our Creataceous Park dinosaur discovery site and explore the nature trail.
Monday. Look for critters large and small (microscopic, even)
Tuesday. Learn how to excavate your own miniature dig pit
Wednesday. Collect leaves and make fossil rubbings
Thursday. Preserve your own insect in "amber"
July 19-22 Robosaurs
Build a dinosaur and make it reach, roar, growl, hiss, or chomp. Robotic sensors bring your Robosaur to life.
Monday. Make your robosaur respond audibly to sounds
Tuesday. Make your robosaur respond visibly to light
Wednesday. Make your leaposaurus jump on prey it senses
Thursday. Make your spinosaurus spin when it feels threatened
