Mastodon Muck Citizen Science Project

Thursdays in June and July • 12pm - 2pm

Included in paid general admission

Join us in a Mastodon Muck Citizen Scientist project! After the discovery of an 11,500 year-old Mastodon in New York, the Paleontological Research Institute excavated over 20,000 pounds of matrix or “pond muck”. MASM has received a section of this “pond muck” to sort through and catalogue. Each Thursday in June and July, a MASM staff member will host an Excavation Station. Come check it out . . . we might discover REAL mastodon hair or teeth and maybe REAL seeds and shells from Pleistocene Era!

Innovation BUILDING Station

Fridays and Saturdays throughout summer

Included in paid general admission

This summer we’re turning the Innovation Station into the Innovation BUILDING Station! It’s time to put on your imaginary hard hats and build with some non-traditional materials. Can you design a roller coaster with stuff from the hardware store? Set-up a creatively complicated chain reaction, á la Rube Goldberg? Or how about constructing an entire city out of cardboard? Come test out these challenges and more in the Innovation BUILDING Station, on Fridays and Saturdays all summer long! Each week a different challenge will be featured.

TinkerFest

July 27, 2013 • 10am - 3pm

Included in paid general admission

The MASM Tinkering Studio has exploded! Get ready for TinkerFest . . . a chance to explore REAL tools, learn skills, and discover new techniques. Whether you are a beginner or an avid tinkerer, TinkerFest is for you! Make it. Fuse it. Sew it. Nail it. Solder it. Deconstruct it.

Tinkerfest is brought to you by MASM in cooperation with Arkansas Discovery Network.
